[Piece #2 of the Longing Roots Collection - 그리운 뿌리]

I recreated the norigae (노리개), a traditional Korean ornament, as a modern fashion piece. Norigae was traditionally used as an ornament and talisman for luck, protection, and prosperity during the Joseon dynasty. While it is still worn on hanboks (Korean traditional clothing) for certain occasions, it’s not a common ornament that is used today.

I wanted to reimagine this traditional ornament as a modern fashion piece, so I made it into a zipper charm/bag keychain. Inspired by the original Korean trinket (norigae), these zipper charms represent my Korean-American identity and love for trinkets growing up 🧸

About the Longing Roots Collection (그리운 뿌리):

Tiny, playful tributes to my Korean-American upbringing, each creation is an exploration of the moments that shaped my world.
